Bengaluru: It is time for you to dust off your induction cooktops, air fryers, and electric pressure cookers.Amid rising concerns about LPG shortage, Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF) has issued an advisory urging residents to adopt responsible consumption practices, including cooking with electric devices. The advisory encourages residents to use induction cooktops for boiling and everyday cooking. Electric pressure cookers can be used for making curries, rice and lentils, while air fryers and electric grills can be a good option for frying and roasting. Using electricity for 30-40% of cooking activities can significantly reduce LPG consumption across the community, states the advisory.Residents and management committees have also been advised against panic booking and stockpiling, as booking multiple cylinders could put unnecessary pressure on the system. How to reduce LPG consumption You can extend your cylinder life by 15–20% by adopting the following measures: * Clean burners regularly for efficient flame * Use the correct burner size for utensils * Keep vessels covered while cooking * Use pressure cookers wherever possible * Avoid keeping the flame on unnecessarily — Source: BAF
