Nagpur: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a pharmaceutical wholesaler operating from Dawa Bazaar in Ganeshpeth and seized medicines, including abortion kits and drugs used to treat depression and panic disorders, which can be sold only against a valid prescription.Acting on specific information, FDA officials carried out the raid around 3.30pm. During the inspection, the accused, identified as Vimal Chandwani and Vikky Chandwani, were allegedly found stocking the regulated medicines without maintaining valid purchase and sale records.According to FDA sources, the duo failed to produce the necessary documents during the inspection, following which the stock was seized.In a complaint lodged with police, the Drug Inspector attached to the FDA Joint Commissioner’s office in Civil Lines stated that the accused had caused loss to the state by illegally stocking and dispensing the medicines.
