Shimla: A 43-year-old man and his 11-year-old daughter were killed after their car plunged into a deep gorge while being turned around near Nerwa in Shimla district on Tuesday morning.The deceased were identified as Lokendra Dhanaik and his daughter, Tiya, residents of Babi village in Nerwa tehsil. The accident occurred around 6am at Babi Kainchi in Ruslah panchayat as the family was returning from a three-day holiday.Police said Lokendra was behind the wheel and Tiya was seated inside the vehicle when it suddenly went out of control and fell into the gorge. His wife, Shalu, and son, who had stepped out of the car and were waiting on the roadside before boarding, escaped unhurt.Villagers rushed to the spot and took the victims to Civil Hospital, Nerwa, where doctors declared them dead.Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
