Gurgaon: A 66-year-old farmer died after being hit by a speeding car on Kharkhari Road near a liquor shop in IMT Manesar on Saturday afternoon. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified driver and cops have launched a probe.The victim, Dharmsingh, a resident of Kasan village in Manesar, went to his fields along with his nephew, Naresh Kumar, on March 1. In his complaint to the police, Naresh said around 12.30pm, the two were returning home after finishing work, when the incident happened.Dharmsingh was walking nearly 100 steps ahead of him when a white Maruti Brezza bearing registration number HR 26 FT 6775 approached from the opposite direction at a high speed. “The vehicle struck Dharmsingh, and the impact left him critically injured. Naresh rushed to his uncle’s aid and took him to Fortis hospital, Manesar. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead,” an officer said.Police said they received information from the hospital regarding a road accident case. A team from IMT Sector-7 police station reached the hospital, collected the medico-legal report and completed the necessary formalities. The body was later shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.Based on the written complaint submitted by the family, police registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at IMT Manesar police station.
