Berhampur: Three days after the reported death of A Ramaya, hailing from Madhabandh in Ganjam district’s Chikiti block, in a drone attack in Moscow, his family is yet to receive any official confirmation from authorities or his employer.“We have not received any communication either from the govt or from the company where he was working in Moscow,” said A Ganesh, elder brother of the deceased.The family has been in distress since Sunday morning, when they were informed of Ramaya’s death by friends from Ganjam working in the same company. They were told that Ramaya died and two others were injured in a drone strike around 5 am (local time) in the Russian capital.Ganesh said they have approached collector (Ganjam) V Keerthi Vasan, seeking help to bring the body back to their native village. The collector said the district administration has written to the Indian embassy, requesting necessary steps to repatriate the body and ensure proper treatment for the injured. “It will take time to get all details,” he said.Sources said the 30-year-old, who was working as a fitter in a construction company at an oil refinery, was waiting for a bus with others early in the morning when the drone attack took place. He reportedly died on the spot.Two others from Kotharsingh, G Tejeswar Reddy (22) and Khetrabasi Reddy (35), suffered injuries in the attack. Their family members have urged the govt to ensure the best possible treatment for them.Meanwhile, former zilla parishad member A Dambaru Reddy has also reached out to the ministry of external affairs, seeking assistance for treatment of the injured and repatriation of Ramaya’s body for the last rites.
