Kanpur: A family travelling by car was assaulted and robbed late at night in the Sumerpur police station area of Hamirpur district, near Mundera village. Criminals snatched a woman’s mangalsutra, locket and cash, while a youth was alleged to have been robbed of Rs 30,000. The victim family submitted a written complaint to the police demanding action.The family, from Kiswahi village, was travelling to Chitrakoot for a child’s mundan ceremony when the incident occurred. Near Mundera village, around half-a-dozen criminals stopped their car and attacked them, leaving several family members injured.According to victim Rajeshwari, when the criminals were assaulting the children, she attempted to intervene, following which the criminals beat her as well, resulting in a broken finger on one of her hands.Another victim, Somwati, stated that the criminals snatched her mangalsutra, locket and Rs 2,000 kept in her purse. Car occupant Rohit was also assaulted and Rs 30,000 was taken from his pocket. Rohit also sustained injuries.Following the incident, the victims informed UP-112 police and reached Sumerpur police station. The family alleged that the police did not take any immediate action.
