Lucknow: The 163rd foundation day of Kali Bari Temple in Ghasiyari Mandi was celebrated with devotion and cultural fervour, with the Temple Trust organising a devotional music programme and a dance drama ‘Mahamaya’ on Thursday.The main attraction of the evening was Nrityayan’s presentation, ‘Maha Maya’, a dance-theatre composition conceptualised and directed by Guru Sanjeev Rai. Inspired by popular folk dance traditions and music of Bengal, the production brought alive a story centred on faith, compassion and the divine grace of Maa Kali. While Sanjeev Rai directed, Nivedita Roy designed the costumes and Mrinalini Roy composed the music.President of Management Committee, Gautam Bhattacharya, said, “The foundation day is an occasion to reconnect with our faith, heritage and community. Through music and dance, we seek to keep Bengal’s devotional traditions alive.”The evening also featured performances by artists from the Lucknow-based institution Geeti Chhando. Kaveri Banerjee presented “Amar Sadhona Miteelo”, Mohini performed “Kalo Mer Payar Tolay”, while Pranab presented “Amar Mayar Paye Joba Hoy”.
