Nagpur: Results-related errors continue to plague Nagpur University, with a fresh incident leaving it red-faced. A BSc final-year student is the latest to bear the brunt after being declared failed despite securing well above the minimum passing marks.She missed the Botany practical in the fifth semester but had scored 73 marks in theory. Consequently, she was declared failed in the semester result announced in May. After subsequently appearing for the practical examination, she secured 21 marks, taking her aggregate to 94 out of 150 — comfortably above the 60 marks required to pass the subject.However, when the revised result was declared on August 1, the university failed to carry forward her theory marks. The marksheet reflected only her practical (21) and internal assessment (17) scores, leaving her total at 38 and declaring her failed again.Her sixth-semester result is also awaited as examinations concluded only on July 11 and are not expected before August 11.“I need to apply for PG admission but I don’t have a pass marksheet for the previous semester even though I have cleared it. The college told me it would take a month to rectify the error. Admission deadlines are fast approaching and many courses have already closed. I can’t even seek provisional admission because of these mistakes,” she said.The problem is not confined to one student. Several final-year undergraduate students are still awaiting corrected marksheets even as postgraduate admission deadlines draw near. Others have complained that corrections in previous-semester results remain pending, while fresh discrepancies have surfaced in backlog examination results.A science faculty member said several students from her college were facing similar problems. “Their corrected results are reflected in the tabulation register, but the revised marksheets are yet to be generated,” she said.University examination officials blamed colleges for failing to upload complete marks or enter the required details while submitting results.“We have found that students are sometimes unaware of their practical examination schedule because colleges fail to inform them adequately. In several cases, colleges also do not forward the marks or mention theory exemptions while uploading the data. In this case too, the college appears to have either omitted the exemption or submitted the marks incorrectly,” the officials said.
