Ranchi: Ranchi Municipal Corporation has launched a citywide initiative to overhaul, maintain, and beautify public parks across the city, aiming to create clean and green spaces that encourage healthy lifestyles for residents.As part of this citywide initiative, regular drives for inspection, maintenance, and beautification of all municipal parks will be conducted on an ongoing basis. The civic body aims to develop and upgrade such public spaces across every ward.The initiative gained momentum following inspection of Garikhana Chowk area by Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, during which the dilapidated and neglected state of Veer Kunwar Singh Park in Ward No. 21 came to light.Taking cognisance of the accumulated filth, overgrown grass and bushes, disorganised premises, and deteriorating civic amenities within the park grounds, Commissioner issued directives to initiate a comprehensive beautification drive and execute necessary structural repairs without delay.Gaurav said, “The neglect of any public park, green space, or civic amenity in the city will not be tolerated. Immediate action and necessary corrective measures will be taken wherever deficiencies are identified during inspections.”He further informed that RMC is exploring plans to hand over public parks to private entities to ensure superior maintenance and beautification.Following Commissioner’s orders, RMC’s Horticulture and Sanitation teams launched a drive to clean and restore the park by clearing waste, mowing grass, and pruning trees. Officials also inspected swings, benches, and lighting, directing immediate repairs to ensure safety and comfort for all visitors.RMC has appealed to local residents to actively assist in preserving the cleanliness and greenery of urban parks. Citizens have been urged to avoid littering within park premises, refrain from damaging plants or public assets, and utilise civic facilities responsibly.Civic authorities reiterated that the long-term preservation of urban assets is possible only through strong citizen participation, ensuring a cleaner and better environment for future generations.
