Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of of heavy to very heavy and at times extremely heavy rainfall in central, south Gujarat and Saurashtra.On Saturday, the districts where isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected include Ahmedabad, Anand, Surendranagar, and Rajkot, and districts where isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected include Bhavnagar, Botad, Morbi, Kutch, Vav-Tharad, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, and Bharuch. The remaining districts may experience moderate to heavy rainfall.Ashok Kumar Das, head of the IMD Gujarat, said that a deep depression is moving west-northwestwards from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and is likely to approach the state on Friday. “The system will weaken as it progresses and will turn into a depression. It will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places in the state,” he said.On Sunday, parts of north Gujarat and Kutch may experience moderate to heavy rain, as other parts may experience light to moderate showers with passing of the system, according to the forecast. The system is aided by existing shear zone and monsoon trough along with Western Disturbance, added Met Department officials.
