Ara: To reduce dependence on LPG cylinders and ensure uninterrupted gas supply, Bhojpur district magistrate Tanai Sultania has directed PNG suppliers and concerned officials to accelerate the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections across the district.At a review meeting, the DM stressed the need to widen PNG coverage to stabilise gas availability, especially during peak demand. At present, the district has about 10,000 active PNG consumers, while nearly 15,000 households have completed registration and payment but are awaiting activation.The DM ordered fast activation of pending connections and called for a district-wide awareness campaign highlighting PNG’s safety and convenience. Officials were also asked to streamline gas distribution in coordination with oil marketing companies.To this end, the district supply officer has been directed to prepare an updated list of active PNG consumers and share it with Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. The municipal commissioner was instructed to intensify public outreach and inform urban households about the benefits of switching to PNG.The DM urged residents to avoid panic booking of LPG cylinders and rely more on PNG, noting that public cooperation would help ensure adequate gas availability across Bhojpur district.
