Exercise caution before you click on any link or open attachments.TIMES NEWS NETWORKDaltonganjExcise team of Palamu seized 18,880 litres of raw spirit which is grain ENA a neutral base for alcoholic products in a night long raid ending Saturday morning at 5.Giving this information on Saturday the excise superintendent Sujit Kumar said these 18,880 litres were stored in 472 gallons each having a capacity of 40 litres.Two persons identified as Law Kumar Chandravanshi and Pramode Kumar have been arrested.The market price of the seized spirit is estimated to be little over 13 lakh 21 thousand of rupees.Sujit kumar further said “The banned consignment was kept in the cattle shed of Law Kumar Chandravanshi. He and his accomplice Pramod tried to dodge and escape the excise team but in vain.”The seizure was made at a desolate place Bhetiya under the Pipra police station limits in Palamu.Sources said the excise superintendent Sujit Kumar was monitoring and supervising the raid team of the excise personnel.Two sub inspector of excise police Amit and Anup conducted this successful raid.It was a night long drive beginning 10 at night which went on till 5 this Saturday morning reiterated Sujit Kumar.The two arrested Chandravanshi and Pramode were forwarded to judicial custody under section 47 A of the Excise Act.Sources said this raid and seizure was carried out exclusively by the excise team along with a posse of HG jawans only.Sources said the seizure of spirit matters most because of the proximity of the area to Bihar where there is prohibition and back here in Jharkhand’s Palamu it’s nagar panchayat election in the adjacent Harihurganj police station limits.There is a strong apprehension of illicit liquor doing brisk business in this ongoing urban local body elections.Where the raid and seizure has boosted the morale of the excise personnel here, the bootleggers are in panic said sources.
