Kolkata: An FIR has been lodged over an alleged 2021 post-poll attack on a woman and her family, as well as vandalism at their residence in Duttabad, following the declaration of the 2021 assembly election results. The complaint was lodged against 13 persons, including a former TMC councillor (Nirmal Dutta), on Wednesday — more than five years after the alleged incident.According to the plaint, a resident of Duttabad Road in Salt Lake, approached the police station on July 9 and alleged that she and her family members were assaulted on May 2, 2021, after the results of the assembly election were declared. It was alleged that a group of 13 persons, along with other aides, attacked her and her family members and damaged household articles at their residence. The accused named in the complaint include Dutta, Sanjay Chowdhury, Ajay Chowdhury, Prasenjit Mondal, Surajit Mondal, Arun Sapoi alias Pagla, Pradip Sau, Rupa Mondal, Indrajit Sarkar, Swaralipi Sarkar, Lalu Mondal, Kunti Mondal and Santu alias Tera.The complainant has alleged that the accused were associated with the Trinamool. The complaint also alleges that the group resorted to violence and extensive vandalism at the house.Police said the matter was subjected to a preliminary enquiry under Section 173(3) of the BNSS that allow cops to conduct a preliminary inquiry for up to 14 days before registering an FIR. Following an order from the ACP, Bidhannagar South, an FIR was subsequently registered on Wednesday.
