Kanpur: Another man, who was injured in a massive explosion at the residence of former Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Singh in Farrukhabad in March, died during treatment, taking the toll in the incident to two. The deceased has been identified as Ishu Chaurasiya of Batua Wali Gali, Madarwadi Gali in Farrukhabad.According to police, the post-mortem report attributed the cause of death to the spread of infection. Earlier, another injured man, Bhaiyalal, had succumbed to his injuries.The explosion took place on the evening of March 17 in the basement of Vijay Singh’s three-storey house in Mohalla Nala Machharatta. The blast was so powerful that tremors were felt up to the third floor of the building, nearby houses shook, and the basement was extensively damaged.Six persons—Avinash alias Vikki, son of Vijay Singh, Abhishek alias Sikki, Ishu Chaurasiya, Ramveer Yadav, Ramu alias Rasu Mishra, and Bhaiyalal—sustained serious injuries in the explosion. They were admitted to different hospitals for treatment. While Bhaiyalal died earlier, Ishu Chaurasiya later succumbed to his injuries at his residence.Following the blast, forensic experts and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) collected samples from the site for examination. Owing to the intensity of the explosion, investigators initially explored multiple possibilities. The house was sealed after the investigation began.Police had registered an FIR on the night of the incident against Avinash alias Vikki, Abhishek alias Sikki, Ishu Chaurasiya, Ramveer Yadav, Rasu Mishra and Bhaiyalal.During the investigation, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report did not confirm the use of any explosive substance and indicated that the blast may have been caused by cooking gas or another inflammable source. Police said the investigation and legal proceedings in the case are continuing.
