Gorakhpur: BJP MP Ravi Kishan on Wednesday hit out at opposition parties over allegations of electoral malpractice, saying they raise questions on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) only after losing elections.Addressing a ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ organised as part of the BJP’s ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ in Gorakhpur, Ravi Kishan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed the country through development-oriented governance and expanded the Gujarat model of growth to the national level.Referring to criticism of the electoral process, the MP said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar assumed office only in 2025, while the BJP had won elections even before that. “Whenever opposition parties fear defeat, they question EVMs. The same machines are considered correct where they win, but become questionable when they lose,” he said.In a sharp jibe at critics, Ravi Kishan remarked that EVMs were introduced during the tenure of parties now questioning them, asking why doubts were raised only after electoral defeats. The Seva Jyoti Yatra began from Gorakhpur Club and saw participation from many BJP leaders, office-bearers and workers. Participants carried party flags and reiterated their commitment to public service and nation-building under the theme of “25 Years of Public Service to National Service”.Among those present were BJP state vice-president Neeraj Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, mayor Manglesh Srivastava, BJP metropolitan president and yatra convener Ramesh Pratap Gupta, MLAs Vimlesh Paswan, Mahendra Pal Singh, Shravan Nishad and Fateh Bahadur Singh.
