GURGAON: Her video has gone viral, millions have watched the footage of the hit-and-run, and thousands have rallied behind her. But biker Sia is making one thing clear — she does not want the spotlight on her face.In an Instagram story posted on Monday, Sia said she would not reveal her identity or face and would not give interviews to news channels or journalists seeking to speak to her about the incident. She thanked people for their support and said she had noticed efforts to identify the person allegedly involved in the crash.ID@undefined Caption not available.“I do not wish to reveal my identity or face, and I won’t be giving any interviews this time,” Sia said, asking people to respect her decision. Her choice has added a new dimension to the Gurgaon hit-and-run case. While the crash video has become widely circulated online, Sia has consciously kept her own identity shielded from the public eye.In fact, hiding her face is not new for the biker. Her Instagram reels and other posts show her wearing a mask, keeping her face largely concealed even before the alleged crash video drew massive attention. The accident video has so far clocked around 9.6 million views on Instagram, turning Sia into a widely recognised name online even as she remains personally anonymous. Her Instagram account has around 14,500 followers and 50 posts, but her social media presence has largely kept her face out of view.Sia’s decision also comes as she prepares to pursue the matter legally. She said she would file an FIR with her lawyer by Monday evening and take legal action over the alleged incident. The biker had earlier alleged that a car repeatedly followed her while she was riding with a group of bikers on Gurgaon’s Golf Course Road before hitting her motorcycle and fleeing. The footage appeared to show the car coming into contact with her bike, knocking her off and dragging the motorcycle for several metres.Gurgaon Police has taken suo motu cognisance of the viral video and said the person allegedly involved would be identified and arrested at the earliest. For Sia, however, going viral does not appear to mean becoming publicly visible. She has said she will continue updating people through Instagram while choosing not to give interviews or reveal her face — a decision she has made clear she wants others to respect.
