Srinagar, June 19: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch J&K conducted a house search in Banit area of Beerwah, Budgam district, in connection with a major migrant land fraud case registered at Police Station EOW Kashmir.
According to officials, the case relates to an alleged conspiracy involving fraudulent attempts to sell migrant land measuring 14 kanals and 03 marlas located at Goshbugh Pattan in Baramulla district. The accused allegedly used fake agreements and other fraudulent means to facilitate the sale without the consent of the actual landowner.
During the course of the investigation, the Crime Branch found the involvement of five accused persons who allegedly duped the complainant of crores of rupees on the pretext of selling the land. Investigators believe the fraud was carried out through criminal conspiracy and misrepresentation.
The house search in Budgam was conducted as part of the ongoing investigation aimed at collecting further evidence in the case.
Officials said that further investigation is underway to uncover all aspects of the fraud and identify any additional individuals involved.
