Gaya: The district administration has asked power officials to remain on high alert and ensure uninterrupted supply amid rising complaints of outages across the city. On Friday, district magistrate (DM) Shashank Shubhankar summoned officials of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and sought a detailed report on the power supply situation, particularly in Gaya town.The DM said complaints of frequent power cuts due to technical snags, transformer burnouts and infrastructure or maintenance shortcomings have been reported in large numbers. “Such complaints are regularly received from different parts of the city, including high-demand areas such as commercial centres on GB Road, KP Road, Dak Bungalow Road, Tekari Road and SP Road,” he said.He directed officials to remain on high alert until the intensity of summer subsides and ensure hassle-free and uninterrupted power supply. They have also been asked to promptly address complaints of disruptions.SBPDCL officials informed the DM that technicians are working in three shifts round-the-clock across all areas to carry out remedial measures. However, expressing dissatisfaction, the DM directed them to strengthen the workforce by recruiting more linemen and gangmen.The DM also expressed unhappiness over reports that complaint calls were not being properly attended. Officials were directed to receive all calls and ensure immediate response.Officials further stated that an adequate number of transformers are available in ready-to-use condition for timely replacement. In the past 24 hours, at least 30 burnt transformers have been replaced. The DM also directed SBPDCL officials to constitute a dedicated night-duty team.
