Pune: A civil engineer and his friend were arrested on Saturday and 60gm of hydroponic weed worth Rs6.5 lakh was seized from them.The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch team led by senior police inspector Arvind Pawar laid a trap near a housing society at Mhalunge and took the duo into custody. “We recovered 60gm of hydroponic weed worth Rs6.5 lakh from their possession. The accused told us that a Mumbai-based man had supplied it for sale in Pune,” Pawar told TOI.He said the engineer (24) and his accomplice stayed in a prominent housing complex at Uttamnagar in Bavdhan. The engineer is from Buldhana district. His accomplice (21) is from Jalgaon district and had come to Pune in search of a job after completing his graduation. “Investigations revealed that the duo themselves would also consume the weed. They started peddling it for their addiction and to earn money.”Pawar said a case has been registered against the two youths with the Bavdhan police. “Our investigations are on,” he added.
