Patna: The energy department on Wednesday issued a comprehensive advisory to ensure safe, uninterrupted power supply during Muharram. It appealed to citizens, organisers and participants in tazia processions to strictly follow electricity safety norms and cooperate with authorities to prevent accidents.According to the advisory, tazias and other tall structures should be carried at a safe distance from overhead power lines, electric poles and transformers. Officials warned that any contact with live electrical infrastructure could lead to serious accidents and threaten public safety. Citizens have been urged to immediately report electrical hazards or obstructions along procession routes to the nearest electricity office.To strengthen preparedness, control rooms have been set up at headquarters and district levels for round-the-clock monitoring and prompt redress of complaints. Coordination with district administration has been intensified to inspect procession routes and identify potential risks in advance.Energy secretary Ajay Yadav has directed all distribution companies to ensure quality power supply and strict adherence to safety protocols during Muharram. Rahul Kumar and Saurav Jorwal, managing directors of North Bihar Power Distribution Company and South Bihar Power Distribution Company, respectively, have also asked field officials to inspect networks along procession routes, at tazia sites and other sensitive locations.Officials said the aim is to ensure Muharram is observed peacefully, safely and in an atmosphere of communal harmony.
