Bengaluru: The King’s School Canterbury, Bengaluru has appointed Emma Derham Sharma as its head of admissions, strengthening its founding leadership team ahead of the school’s planned opening in the 2027-28 academic year.
Derham Sharma brings more than 15 years of experience spanning education, government, charitable organisations and international engagement. She joins from a British international school in Bengaluru, where she was part of the founding team and helped establish the admissions function, overseeing student recruitment, admissions policies, assessment processes and family engagement initiatives.
Prior to her role in education, she worked with the UK Government, including the Department for International Trade, and served in a diplomatic posting in Dubai, where she managed international events and worked with government officials, diplomats and business leaders. She has also held leadership positions with UK-based charities, focusing on fundraising, strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
She holds an MA (Hons) in Art History from the University of St Andrews and a Master’s in Art Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of Leicester.
In her new role, Derham Sharma will lead admissions strategy and oversee family engagement as the school prepares to admit its first batch of students.

Nina Hunt, Managing Director of The King’s School Canterbury International, said Derham Sharma’s experience in building admissions systems and engaging with families would support the school’s launch in Bengaluru.
The King’s School Canterbury, Bengaluru is scheduled to commence operations in the 2027-28 academic year.
