Gumla: Panic gripped residents of remote Bolba block in Simdega district on Tuesday after an elephant entered the block office and weekly market area in broad daylight, triggering chaos among shoppers and traders.As news of the elephant spread, people rushed to safer places, while curious onlookers gathered to watch the animal. Forest officials repeatedly appealed to residents to maintain caution and keep a safe distance.The elephant roamed around the block office premises and nearby market for nearly two hours.Bolba beat officer Avinash Bisi said, “The stray tusker entered the area around 11 am and moved towards the Jethubeda forest around 1 pm without causing any injury or damage.”
