CHENNAI/TRICHY: Former chief minister M K Stalin on Sunday said Tamil Nadu was facing the danger of “descending into a state of deep mess” within a month of regime change. Stalin said elections could come anytime in the state and asked DMK cadres to be prepared.“Industrial units are reluctant to invest in TN and are preferring other states. There are sexual assaults, burglary and murders everywhere. Saddest part is that ruling party members are accused in many of the crimes,” Stalin said at an event in DMK headquarters in Chennai organised to induct members of other parties into DMK. Stalin said TN witnessed unprecedented growth during the DMK’s tenure, with new welfare and development programmes being launched regularly. Due to the confidence in DMK govt, global companies chose TN for investment, which created large-scale employment opportunities. But now there are power outages everyday while farmers in the delta are in distress, he said. “Nevertheless, the govt is unbothered about these issues and was running the administration in a ‘take diversion’ mode,” he said.Stalin said people have now realised that they have made a mistake by voting TVK. Those who didn’t vote for TVK as well as those who voted were suffering, he said adding that DMK, ‘which was the key force behind development of TN’, should not allow the state to be ruined.“Elections could be there anytime — in three months or six months. So be prepared,” he said. It was because of the support from DMK’s former allies, TVK govt was surviving, he said. “But we don’t know when that would end,” he said.Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin too stepped up his attack on chief minister C Joseph Vijay, saying the failures of his ‘sofa-model’ govt are being exposed before people in the last one month.In a rebuttal to Vijay’s jibe on the absence of Stalin in assembly, Udhayanidhi said at a wedding ceremony of a party functionary at Orathanadu that Perambur voters are searching for their MLA while people in rest of the state are in search of electricity and law and order.“The standard of the assembly has diminished because of the ruling party members,” Udhayanidhi said. He said only Vijay’s dance performance was missing in the assembly. “We expect him to fulfill that in the next session,” he said.
