Chennai: MKB Nagar police arrested eight people, including two women — one of them a history-sheeter — on Tuesday for smuggling and selling narcotic pills and ganja in Kodungaiyur.Acting on a tip-off that narcotic pills were being sold, police raided a house on Indira Gandhi Nagar Second Street at Erukkancherry on Tuesday. They seized narcotic pills hidden in the house and arrested Thirumalai, 26, of Vyasarpadi, for questioning. Based on his admission, police arrested two 17-year-old boys from the same area for selling the narcotic pills.Later, five more people — Vinothini, 29, Bhuvaneshwari alias Bhuvana, 21, Thennarasu, 20, Ashok Kumar, 20, and a 17-year-old boy — were held.Police searched Vinothini’s house and seized 1,500 narcotic pills, 1.5kg of ganja, and about 5.5 lakh. Investigations revealed the narcotic pills were purchased and smuggled from Mumbai.tnn
