Kanpur: A 28-year-old railway technician, Neha Kumari, allegedly died by suicide in her room late on Thursday night in Govind Nagar, police said. She got engaged on Feb 26. On getting no response, her colleague Sonal informed Neha’s family members and Govind Nagar police. Police reached the spot along with a forensic team and broke open the door and found Neha’s body hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta. A diary containing a suicide note was found in the room.A native of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, Neha was appointed as a technician in the railways in 2020 and was posted at the workshop in Fazalganj. Her elder brother Chandan, who works in Agra Metro, said that Neha lived with her colleague Sonal in 10 Block, Govind Nagar. Their father Umesh Kumar works in a private company in Jharkhand.Neha took leave on Feb 23 to visit home for Holi, said Chandan. She returned on Thursday. When Sonal reached the room, she found the doors locked from inside. After knocking for a long time, Sonal informed the police and Neha’s family.According to fellow employees, Neha was very cheerful. Her family also denied any kind of stress or depression. Govind Nagar Inspector Rikesh Kumar Singh said that the cause of suicide could not be ascertained.
