T’puram: The civil supplies department on Wednesday seized eight commercial LPG cylinders that were being stored illegally at a gas stove repair shop in Poojappura during a surprise inspection conducted by a special squad led by district supply officer.The raid was part of an ongoing enforcement drive to curb unauthorized storage and distribution of LPG cylinders in the district.During the inspection, the squad found that the establishment did not possess the mandatory licence or statutory approval required to store commercial LPG cylinders. The seized cylinders were subsequently handed over to an authorized LPG distribution agency for safe custody.Officials said unauthorized storage of LPG cylinders poses significant safety risks and violates provisions governing the handling and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas.District supply officer said the department would continue intensive inspections across the district.
