Prayagraj: Kaushambi police arrested 8 people—Bhagwati alias Bhagauti, Ramhit, Rajesh, Budhraj, Hiralal, Kamlesh, Shiv Singh and Angad Singh—all residents of Gaurahar Majra (Rampur Dhamava) on Sunday, on charges of attacking the joint team of police and revenue officials during anti-encroachment operation. The accused had allegedly attacked the team when they went to remove encroachments from barren land on Saturday evening. They all were booked under section 191(2), 191(3), 190, 121(1), 352, 351(2), 109 and 119(1) of BNS.Police said that a joint team of Saini police and the revenue department, led by the nayab tehsildar (Sirathu), went to resolve the issue of encroachment at Gaurahar Mazra village. The joint team noticed that a woman, Jhulni Devi, had allegedly encroached a barren land and they initiated the process to seal the land. While the joint team was completing the process, a group of 15-20 unidntified people allegedly attacked them with sticks and bricks.The police somehow managed to escape and registered an FIR against the accused. A senior cop said that police identified 8 out of the 15 accused and arrested them. The other accused, who are absconding, would be arrested soon, said the police.
