Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta said efforts will be made to bring a decommissioned MiG-21 fighter jet to the city. He noted that the process would be lengthy, but assured that steps would be taken.Speaking during the unveiling of the T-55 battle tank at the war memorial in Kadri hills on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Sunday, the MP said the T-55 battle tank is not merely a machine, but a living testimony to the bravery, sacrifice, and glorious heritage of the country’s soldiers. He further said there are plans to bring a MiG fighter jet to Mangaluru and develop the region into a place of war memorial, aiming to make it a source of inspiration for citizens.

Former Colonel Nitte Guttu Sharath Bhandary said it is the duty of every citizen to remember the soldiers who sacrificed their lives and led the nation to victory. The T-55 tank, inducted in the mid-1960s, served as the backbone of the Indian Army’s Armoured Corps for over four decades before being phased out in May 2011.
