Gorakhpur: Washed downstream from flood-hit Nepal, three unidentified bodies were recovered from Gandak river in Kushinagar district, officials said on Saturday.The bodies were spotted near pier number 3 of the Gandak barrage in the Madanpur-Sukrauli area of Khadda on Friday. Police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and launched efforts to establish identities of the deceased.Khadda SHO Sandeep Singh said SDRF personnel monitoring the river first noticed the bodies floating in the water and retrieved them.Information was shared with authorities in neighbouring Nepal districts to help identify the victims.Apart from the bodies, several items swept away by the floods, including vehicles, household goods, gas cylinders, drums, furniture and logs, were floating in the river and washing up along its banks.Officials are coordinating with Nepal authorities to ascertain whether the victims were among those reported missing after the floods and landslides in the neighbouring nation.
