Akhilesh Yadav speaks to mediapersons

Lucknow: Suggesting that Central govt was making a big deal about the students’ demand for education minister’s resignation, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said the move will only serve as an admission that govt failure had led to paper leak.“What will happen if the Centre today makes the education minister resign and 15 days later gets him back into the Union cabinet? What can the Opposition do to stop? At least (resignation) will be an admission of govt failure in NEET paper leak,” Akhilesh said.He added that the minister’s resignation ‘per se’ was inconsequential as he can be reinducted into the cabinet later.Akhilesh said the protests over NEET paper leak have hit the BJP hard as its sympathisers have started removing party flags from their cars, SUVs, offices and homes.“The situation has come to a pass where BJP supporters get angry when someone calls them a ‘BJPite’. Those who have removed BJP flags should wipe off BJP from their minds as well,” Akhilesh said. The SP chief said the BJP has failed to realise that the police crackdown was not only impacting the students but also their families.“This is one reason why people have started removing BJP flags. People are feeling ashamed of having supported a party which had betrayed Lord Ram by donation theft at Ram Temple in Ayodhya, protesting daughters being brutally attacked in Delhi, protesting students being threatened to be falsely implicated in drug rackets, parents of students who lost their life in Lucknow blaze being mistreated and many more such incidents,” he said.‘Exam system needs major reforms’Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav on Friday said the country’s examination system requires comprehensive reforms, citing repeated complaints and alleged paper leaks.Talking to the media in the Parliament complex, Dimple said 150 examination papers have leaked under Modi govt. “The demands of the students are justified. The protests are not limited to Delhi; students and youth across the country are agitating,” she said. She said the manner in which the Delhi police assaulted students was brutal.“Young students were left injured. Clothes of women were torn. Delhi police functions under the Union home ministry and the manner in which they were attacked by the Delhi Police, the home minister should take responsibility for it and resign,” she said.SP to observe July 26 as ‘Constitution-Manastambh Raising Day’Samajwadi Party will observe the July 26 Reservation Day as the ‘Constitution-Manastambh Raising Day’.The date commemorates the July 26, 1902 decree of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, which provided 50% reservation in govt jobs and education for backward and depressed classes. Akhilesh said SP will observe the day as ‘Constitution-Manastambh’ installed at the party headquarters to remind the cadres of SP’s commitment to social justice.
