New Delhi: ED on Monday challenged before Delhi High Court the acquittal of former CM Arvind Kejriwal in two cases for not answering summons in connection with the excise policy probe.ED filed an appeal against a Jan 22 order of a trial court and argued that he “intentionally” didn’t respond to summons. It is likely to be taken up for hearing this week by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. The agency argued that the AAP leader “raised frivolous objections and deliberately created grounds for not attending the probe.”In its order acquitting Kejriwal, the trial court concluded that ED failed to prove that Kejriwal intentionally disobeyed the summons.ED has maintained that the other accused were in touch with Kejriwal while drafting the now-scrapped excise policy, which, it claims, led to undue benefits for Aam Aadmi Party.
