Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) general manager (GM) Dimpy Garg on Monday inspected the non-interlocking (NI) work being carried out at the newly constructed mega rail bridge at Rajendrapul near Mokama under Danapur division of ECR.The NI work, which is being undertaken as part of the commissioning of the new rail bridge, is scheduled to be completed by Oct 4. After completion of the work, train operations will start on the new bridge, providing relief by enabling smoother movement of passenger and freight trains and enhancing line capacity on the busy route.During the inspection, ECR GM reviewed the progress of the work and expressed satisfaction over the pace of execution. He directed the railway officials to ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining safety standards, ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra said, adding the newly constructed 1.9 km rail bridge over Ganga river has been built at an estimated cost of Rs1,491.17 crore parallel to the historic Rajendrapul at Hathida near Mokama.The project is considered important for strengthening railway infrastructure on one of the key routes of Danapur division, CPRO said, adding GM also inspected construction work between Garhara and Dinkar Gram Simaria.Danapur DRM Vinod Kumar, Sonepur DRM Amit Saran and other senior railway officials of ECR headquarters were present on the occasion, he said.
