Following the training, the scrutiny and disposal of Logical Discrepancy and unmapped cases, will be adjudicated by these judicial officers in SIR cases. The assembly Constituency for these 200 plus judicial officers have been decided following the receipt of the list of officers from the Calcutta High Court last night, sources said.
However, the list of Logical Discrepancies and unmapped cases are yet to be finalized yet, people in the know told ET. As per WB-CEO office data till Saturday, the total number of Logical Discrepancies and unmapped cases, which are to be verified by these judicial officers, stood at 45 lakhs.
ECI has designed a new portal for the judicial officers, specifically designed for them, as they are appointed by the Supreme Court order, which is different from the portal of the Micro-Observers, a senior ECI official told ET. Details of the portal, its operation and log in system will be detailed during the training today.
Following the Supreme Court order to appoint judicial officers for the disposal of logical discrepancy cases at a high-level meeting convened on Sunday by the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Sujay Paul. Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty, DGP Peeyush Pandey, Kolkata Police Commissioner Supratim Sarkar, senior Election Commission Officials and 23 district judges, were present virtually, along with the Registrar General of Calcutta High Court, a top EC official said.
West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, during the meeting, had sought one ADJ/DJ for every constituency (294) for the fast disposal of cases. These ADJs and DJs will be assisted by micro-observers and the state appointed new micro observers on a 50:50 basis, sources said.
Meeting on poll preparednessMeanwhile, a poll preparedness related meeting is scheduled to be held today evening where West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Bengal Observer NK Mishra, Bengal DGP Peeyush Pandey and other senior officials will be present.
