Noida: An e-rickshaw driver driving on the wrong side of NH-9 died after ramming into a Ciaz car on Sunday night. The crash triggered another collision near the spot, damaging several vehicles.According to police, the Ciaz was heading from Sector 74 towards Delhi when it collided with the e-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.“We received information about the incident around 1.30 am, after which a team from Sector 58 police station rushed to the spot. The e-rickshaw driver, who remains unidentified, suffered leg injuries and was taken to GTB Hospital in Delhi by bystanders in a highway ambulance before our team arrived,” a senior police officer said. Later, police confirmed that the e-rickshaw driver had succumbed to his injuries. “We are trying to ascertain his identity,” the officer added.The accident site attracted a crowd, with several two-wheeler riders stopping to inspect the scene. At this time, a Compass jeep passing through the spot collided with 4–5 motorcycles. All the vehicles were damaged.“The jeep driver, identified as Sandeep Bhati, was taken into custody from the spot. He was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol,” the officer added.
