Bengaluru: In a rather unusual incident, a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus was towed by a significantly smaller vehicle. The incident occurred Saturday when an electric bus belonging to Kalyan Nagar depot broke down and required immediate removal from the road due to the increasing traffic snarls. As a recovery vehicle required time to reach the spot, a privately owned Mahindra Thar pulled the bus all the way to the depot. In a video that went viral on social media, several motorists are seen slowing down their vehicles after witnessing the rare sight. However, BMTC later clarified the bus experienced a minor technical issue, resulting in a breakdown. “To avoid traffic congestion and restore smooth traffic movement, the bus was towed to the nearest depot,” it clarified.BMTC said the technical issue was promptly rectified, and the bus was declared roadworthy and returned to service later the same day. “The viral video does not reflect the complete circumstances of the incident and appears to have been shared only to attract social media attention,” a BMTC spokesperson said.
