Jammu, Oct 11: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Sunday dismissed reports of a ministerial resignation as false, saying decisions regarding the party’s leadership rested with National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Bawe Wali Mata Temple on the first day of Navratri, Choudhary said no minister had resigned and urged the media to focus on public issues rather than speculation over political developments.
He said people should be given accurate information and expressed concern over news coverage that, according to him, often overlooks issues affecting the public.
Referring to an incident involving children in Delhi, the Deputy Chief Minister said their concerns and demands for their rights deserved attention.
On questions regarding possible changes or extensions within the party, Choudhary said the final decision would be taken by Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
He expressed confidence in the party leadership, saying people had faith in their leaders, and reiterated that the media should give greater attention to public concerns and matters of wider social importance.
