Prayagraj: Residents of Sangam city breathed a sigh of relief on Wednesday as temperatures dropped sharply following a brief dust storm, overcast skies and light drizzle.Although the city witnessed a warm morning, the weather changed by noon as cloud cover moved in from the west, and a brief spell of drizzle helped bring down the mercury. The maximum temperature fell to 37.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum dropped by nearly 8 degrees to 21.4 degrees Celsius. In rural areas, however, the weather was more intense.Regions like Koraon and Karchhana witnessed lightning strikes along with light showers. The relative humidity ranged between a maximum of 88% and a minimum of 45%, leading to profuse sweating during the day. Still, the overall conditions were far more bearable compared with the scorching heat of previous days. The pleasant weather drew people outdoors in large numbers, with parks across the city witnessing increased footfall.Families and fitness enthusiasts were seen making the most of the pleasant weather.According to the IMD, similar weather is expected on Apr 30, with chances of cloud cover and light rain, raising hopes of continued relief from the prolonged spells of extreme heat.
