Ahmedabad: A three-year-old boy was killed on the spot and his mother succumbed to injuries during treatment after a speeding dumper truck knocked them off their scooter on SP Ring Road near Hathijan on Monday afternoon.Nikol resident Kamini Prajapati (25), a teacher at a school in Pirana, had taken son Satvik with her to school and was on her way back home when the accident occurred around 2pm near Hathijan Circle on SP Ring Road. Satvik was riding pillion. The speeding truck hit their scooter. Police said Kamini witnessed her son’s death on the spot. She was rushed to a hospital where she died during treatment.The dumper driver tried fleeing, but was chased and caught by locals. He is now in police custody with a case registered against him. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to establish the sequence of events. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
