Dumka: Govt school students on Monday took out a candle march and blocked a road in Dumka district to protest the alleged gang rape and murder of a Class IX student and demand the immediate arrest of the guilty and death penalty. The 14-year-old girl was found dead about 500 metres from her home on Friday evening after reportedly going to a field to bring back cattle, police said. The protesters raised slogans, seeking stringent punishment, including death penalty, for the accused.A wooden stick was found in the girl’s mouth during the post-mortem examination. It may have been inserted to prevent her from raising an alarm during the assault, hospital sources said.Police said, “The protesters lifted the road blockade after being assured of the arrest of accused at the earliest.”Students had also blocked the Dumka-Pakur road on Saturday.
