Dumka: A 55-year-old man sustained a bullet injury to his leg as he foiled an attempt by two bike-borne miscreants to snatch his motorcycle on Monday. The incident took place near Hardiya river on Dumka-Hansdiha main road under Hansdiha police station limits of the district. Shivlal Hansda was taken to a higher medical centre for preliminary treatment at a local community health centre.Police said Hansda, a resident of Lakratand village, was riding his motorcycle around 5 am when two men intercepted him in a two-wheeler near the river and allegedly tried to snatch his vehicle. One of them opened fire as Hansda resisted. The bullet hit Hansda in his left leg. The duo fled as onlookers and passersby started closing in. An FIR was registered based on Hansda’s statement. However, no arrest was made till the evening.“Preliminary investigation suggests it was a motorcycle robbery attempt. We are examining the circumstances and collecting evidence to establish the identity of the accused,” Ajit Kumar Yadav, the officer in-charge of Hansdiha police station, said.
