Gurgaon: Clear skies over the past 24 hours have raised the minimum temperature across the city by 3-4 degrees Celsius after a brief spell of relatively cooler weather earlier this week.The city’s minimum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, up from 20 degrees Celsius a day earlier. It remained close to normal for this time of the year. At the Gurgaon KVK station, the minimum temperature increased from 19.3 degrees Celsius to 23.8 degrees Celsius within 24 hours. At NorthCap University station, the minimum temperature climbed to 24.4 degrees Celsius from the previous day’s 20.8 degrees Celsius.The rise in night temperatures has been attributed to clear and dry weather conditions prevailing in the region. According to India Meteorological Department, no immediate relief is likely over the next three days.The daytime temperatures, on the other hand, fell by nearly 1-3 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours owing to breezy conditions and partly cloudy skies that prevailed during the day. The city recorded the maximum temperature at 34 degrees Celsius — seven notches below the season’s normal, down from 35 degrees Celsius a day earlier.At the Gurgaon KVK station, the daytime temperature was logged at 31.6 degrees Celsius, down from 34.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Similarly, it dropped by over three degrees to 33.5 degrees Celsius at the NorthCap University station. “The maximum temperature is expected to rise by 4-6 degrees Celsius in the coming days,” an IMD official said.However, the weather department has forecast a possible change from May 11 under the influence of a western disturbance, which is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from May 10 onwards. IMD has predicted the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph on May 11 in parts of Haryana, including Gurgaon.According to IMD, the maximum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 42-44 degrees Celsius over the extreme southwestern and southeastern parts of Haryana during the next week, while the minimum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 26-28 degrees Celsius in the southern parts of the state.
