Noida: Residents of Sector 71 complained about poor sanitation on sector roads, particularly around Shiv Shakti Apartments. Home to around 6,000 residents, the area around the complex is strewn with dry leaves, grass and other horticultural waste that has been left unattended for days.President of the Shiv Shakti Apartments RWA, Jagdeesh Yadav Jagga, said that there was an urgent need for action. “The state of our sector is unacceptable. Garbage piles are not only an eyesore, but they are littered everywhere and are now turning into a health hazard as mosquitoes have increased in the area,” he said.Residents said that piles of dry horticultural waste and dust are cluttering the environment. Despite having lodged several complaints with sanitation workers and repeated requests from the RWA, there has been little to no action taken to address the situation, they added.Jagga called on health department officials to intervene and replace the contractor and sanitation workers who failed to perform their duties. “We request immediate cleaning in our area so that the women, children, and families living here can be relieved from the filth that surrounds them,” he said.Urging the health department to take notice, Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) treasurer Pawan Yadav said, “Our Noida city is known for its cleanliness, not for neglect and filth. It’s high time authority officials note the problem and provide a necessary resolution to it.”When asked, Noida Authority officials said that necessary action will be taken against errant workers and cleanliness will be ensured.
