Nagpur: A man with 26 criminal cases was arrested for allegedly driving an autorickshaw recklessly under the influence of alcohol, ramming a two-wheeler and injuring three persons, including a boy. He also allegedly threatened a police constable on duty at Hanuman Mandir Chowk within Pardi police station limits.The incident occurred on Tuesday evening. Police constable Atul Thackeray spotted Pranay alias Ankit Deshmukh (28), a resident of Bhandewadi, driving an autorickshaw at high speed. Instead of stopping the autorickshaw after injuring three persons, Deshmukh allegedly fled the spot and hit another scooterist. Constable Thackeray intercepted and detained him.During questioning, Deshmukh allegedly hurled abuses and threatened to block the entire road. He even started filming the constable on his mobile phone. A breath analyser test confirmed that Deshmukh was driving under the influence of alcohol, said police.A background check at Pardi police station revealed his long criminal history as a habitual offender. Police police registered a case and arrested Deshmukh.
