Navi Mumbai: A dumper driver was injured but narrowly escaped from being electrocuted on Tuesday afternoon at Khopoli. The driver was unloading the soil when the upper portion of the dump bed touched the overhead live wire. The driver jumped out of the truck, but the dumper caught fire.The incident was reported at Vadval under the Khalapur police station. The driver was alone on the wheels and was unable to judge the height of the dump bed against the electrical wire. Within two hours, the dumper was gutted as the fire spread to the tyres. The fire brigade team from Tata Power and Khopoli Municipal Council (KMC) rushed to the spot. The victim was rushed to KMC run Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar hospital. He was later discharged. Khalapur police inspector, Sachin Pawar said, “The dumper was mostly gutted by the time fire brigade teams reached the spot after receiving the alert. They doused the fire.” Many expressed their concerns.
