Bengaluru: A 32-year-old mini-goods vehicle driver was killed after four unidentified men allegedly attacked him during an attempted robbery near Hosur in Tamil Nadu Saturday night. His younger brother, Mohan, narrowly escaped.The deceased, Keshava, a native of Bagepalli in Chikkaballapur district, worked as a driver for a logistics firm. Police said he had taken Mohan along after receiving a delivery booking. After completing the trip, the brothers parked their vehicle by the roadside and fell asleep inside.They were awakened by the sound of someone trying to remove the vehicle’s tyres. When Keshava stepped out to check, four men who had arrived in a car allegedly attacked the brothers with iron weapons and demanded money.Keshava allegedly told the assailants he was not carrying cash and offered to transfer the money online. However, the attackers continued to assault him. Fearing for his life, Mohan escaped and ran to a nearby house for help. During this time, the assailants repeatedly struck Keshava on the head before fleeing.Severely injured, Keshava was taken to the Sarjapur govt hospital, but as no doctor was available, he was referred to Attibele hospital. He died while being shifted to a private hospital in Chandapura for advanced treatment.The family initially approached the nearby Suryanagar police station to lodge a complaint but was told the attack had occurred in Tamil Nadu and fell outside its jurisdiction. The Tamil Nadu police have since registered a case of murder and attempted robbery, and launched a search for the four accused.
