Gurgaon: A 47-year-old container truck driver died when his vehicle collided with a canter allegedly parked in the middle of the road near Elan Mall in Sector 84 early Tuesday morning.Police said the parked canter had no warning signs or barricades around it and its driver’s identity remains unknown.The truck driver, Sumer Singh, a resident of Padmada Khurd, Rajasthan, was working as a driver with Hero company in Neemrana.According to the complaint filed by his son Himmat Singh, Sumer was headed for Neemrana when he met with the accident around 5.15 am while approaching Sector 84 road from Dwarka side.“He was pulled out of his truck and taken to General Hospital, Gurgaon, where he died during treatment,” a police officer said.A case has been registered at Kherki Daula police station under BNS sections related to danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation and death by negligence.In another incident, 25-year-old Rohan Massey, a resident of Delhi, was critically injured after he was run over by a car when it hit his motorcycle near Apparel House in Sector 44 on the night of Aug 24 around 9.30 pm. Another man, Vikas Singh (24), was also injured in the crash.“The driver took Rohan to a hospital but left without providing his complete details. My son remained on ventilator support during his treatment,” said Rohan’s father, Rajesh Massey, in his complaint.Police were informed that Rohan was not fit to give a statement and Vikas had left the hospital against medical advice.On Aug 26, police traced Vikas, who was at Safdarjung Hospital and was fit to give a statement, but his family declined and told the police they’d provide the statement after his recovery.On Aug 30, Rohan was moved to Vivekanand Arogya Kendra in Sector 12A, but remained unfit. Rajesh approached Sushant Lok police station on Sept 2 and submitted a written complaint seeking identification of the car and its driver.Police registered an FIR under BNS sections concerning rash driving and act endangering life.
