Kolkata: Driven by a specific ideology, party workers are at times distanced from Gen Z, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya admitted on Saturday.Bhattacharya’s comments come two days after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, in an attempt to reach out to Gen Z, urged political netas to look for course correction.“Conventional party workers have a specific ideology and a definite outlook. They try to interpret society from a particular ideological perspective and that creates a distance from Gen Z. Gen Z has its own way of keeping updated about day-to-day developments. Many of them collect news from 30-second videos on Instagram,” said Bhattacharya.Citing recent rallies in Kolkata, Bhattacharya said: “Gen Z has this word ‘FOMO’ – fear of missing out. Many youngsters are joining rallies out of this FOMO. While they are not sure why they joined the rally, they did it just to protest. They should realise that state govt was formed merely three months back and an ideal condition can’t be created so soon.”
