Mumbai: Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) has appointed Dr. Harit Kumar Chaturvedi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Clinical Head of the Apollo Oncology Network, strengthening its leadership in cancer care.
With nearly four decades of experience in surgical oncology, Dr Chaturvedi returns to Apollo with extensive clinical expertise and institutional leadership developed over years of advancing cancer care in India. His appointment is expected to support Apollo’s long-term strategy of expanding a nationwide cancer care ecosystem focused on subspecialised, organ-specific, and technology-driven treatment.
Dr Chaturvedi holds an MBBS, MS in General Surgery, and MCh in Surgical Oncology. Over a career spanning 38 years, he has managed complex cases across head and neck, breast, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and gynaecologic cancers. He also brings specialised expertise in robotic and minimally invasive surgery and radiofrequency ablation.
He has played a key role in building one of North India’s leading oncology ecosystems, introducing organ-specific cancer units, multidisciplinary tumour boards, and national research collaborations. Dr Chaturvedi also served as the organising secretary of the Indian Cancer Congress 2013, one of India’s landmark oncology conferences.
He has held leadership roles across major oncology bodies including the Indian Society of Oncology, the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology, and the Oncology Forum.

Dr Chaturvedi previously served as Senior Consultant, Surgical Oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals between 2000 and 2004.
“My focus will be on deepening subspecialisation, expanding robotic and minimally invasive surgical capabilities, and strengthening multidisciplinary care protocols across the network,” Dr Chaturvedi said.
According to the hospital group, patients from 147 countries travel to India to seek cancer treatment across Apollo’s oncology facilities. Dr Chaturvedi will work with a team of more than 25 specialised oncologists, further strengthening multidisciplinary cancer care across multiple treatment pathways.
