Pune: Dr DY Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU), Pimpri, has secured the sixth position in India and been placed in the 101-200 global band in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, which assess universities based on their contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Smita Jadhav, pro-vice-chancellor of DPU, said the university’s performance in the health category was particularly significant.“Of all the numbers in this ranking, the one that moves us most is our position in SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing, where the university stands 34th in the world among 1,254 institutions. To be placed in the top 3% globally for health impact is not something we take lightly. It is the result of decades of dedication by our doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, researchers, allied health professionals and thousands of men and women who chose healing as their life’s work,” she said.“We did not set out to win a ranking. We set out to build one of India’s finest health sciences universities, train compassionate professionals and serve communities that needed us. This recognition tells us we are on the right path. We are grateful and humbled,” she added.Among its strongest performances, the university ranked 34th globally in SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), reflecting its work in health research, healthcare education, and collaboration with health services. It also secured the 52nd global position in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), was placed in the 101-200 band for SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and in the 301-400 band for SDG 4 (Quality Education), according to the rankings.
