Bengaluru: Following transport minister Byrati Suresh’s surprise incognito inspection in the city’s buses Saturday, BMTC has issued a stern warning to drivers and conductors on their conduct.After covering his face with a surgical mask, the minister travelled as an ordinary commuter across multiple city routes. During the inspection, he was forced out of a bus as he could not tender the exact change required for the ticket.BMTC managing director, Raghunandan Murthy has directed all drivers and conductors to treat all passengers with respect and courtesy.BMTC stated deboarding or denying travel to any passenger on account of lack of change will not be tolerated. “Passengers should be asked to avail the UPI payment facility through dynamic QR scanning of ETM machines installed in all buses,” it directed.As certain bus shelters are not reflected as designated stops in ETM machines, the MD directed all divisional controllers to identify and report them on urgent basis. Additionally, drivers and conductors who are named in complaints from the public frequently, will be given soft skills training at Vaddarahalli training centre.Drivers and conductors who receive praise from passengers will be recognised and honoured with a certificate of appreciation from the head office.
